BIOGRAPHY
Richard King also know as King Kong, orginally from Meridian, Ms was born October of 1983. Since 1993, I have been residing in Augusta, GA where I started my music career. My versatiliy-southern style of rap is about: things that I have done or going to do, how my life is, issues I went through and club crunk music. Basically, it just a way I feel I can express myself and for those who don't know me it's a chance for them to know me.
At the age of 15, my brother(Red Magnolia a.k.a. Richmond Barfield) and I begin making mixtapes off of other hip-hop artists' instrumentals, using a karaoake machine; we called ourselves the "BLOOD BROTHERS". We made a studio out of our shed in the backyard, where we would perform: freestyle battles with other kids in the 'hood, recording mixtapes and practicing for possible shows in the future. Later on, we met a dude by the name of Joe Curry, he was kind of like a motivator and promoter type of a person. He helped us with school talent shows, performing at family parties basically just setting up little "gigs" here and there. Through Joe we met "Pat Tennyson" which he had a group called the "MILITIA" which collided with us, "BLOOD BROTHERS" and we were called "TRUMP TYGHT". In the year of 2000, we began going to the studio layin' down track after track, promoting the music, getting T-shirts made, doing out-of-town shows, sending off demos to record companies and also getting our music played on local radio stations. Late July 2001, we dropped our first underground compilation cd called "AUGUSTA MOST WANTED", locally we pushed out about 200 copies which I say, was good for just starting out. Then later, months down the line, the group took a break some people start losing the love for the music, the manager was losing focus so which led me to just back out the rap game for a minute.
During the summer of 2004, Red Magnolia and I branched back out on our own this time and form a group called "FAMOUS I.N.C. BOSSES". We were buying our own tracks, paying for the studio and getting out during the promotion ourselves this time which made us feel even better the second-time around. We were passing out free demos to people in the shopping malls, retail stores, restaurants, parking-lots during any and everything to get FAMOUS I.N.C. where we needed to be. We got three songs playing on our local radio stations such as Power 107 and Foxie 103. As of December 17, 2004 we released another underground mix cd called " Lifestyles of the Crunk and Famous". The status of the record-sales are still rising in the local corner stores as of January 9, 2004. The advertisement is also going well; from gettin T-shirts made, hats, wrist bands, jackets, sweaters, etc.
Recently, Red Magnolia and I have been performing at a local called "Club Chasers" as of December 22, 2004 on Wednesday's of every week. This is where alot of local artist particpate in the "Open Mic" event to compete for "Flava of the Month". We have been categorized for Flava of the Month for January so far and the owner of the club want us to keep coming back, so they can set up something with some major record-labels to check us out.
