BIOGRAPHY
Back in the summer of 1999, 5 young musicians joined forces to create an entity which is now Loathe. With influences ranging from 80’s thrash to the sounds of the new millennium, the band immediately started writing original material with touring and the ambition of a record deal in mind. Approximately a year later, Loathe performed for the first time supporting local band Slit. That same year Loathe were given the opportunity to support UK hardcore/punk outfit Tribute To Nothing, again with Slit.
After hitting the stage a number of times, Loathe were now aiming for some recorded material. The music was now moving into a more specific direction, mainly hardcore and rap-metal. Several gigs followed both with local and foreign bands including hardcore crew Freebase from the UK.
On July 2003 Loathe entered the studio to record their first EP, ‘Abort Retry Fail’ which got very good reviews in local magazines and newspapers along with radioplay on several stations. Having had some line-up issues after the recording of the EP, the band shed the rap/metal influences and began drifting back to its roots. Heavier guitar riffs and faster tempos were instantly noticable in the new songs. Other gigs followed, including one more time with Freebase (UK) and with female fronted Defenestration (also UK). Loathe also shared the stage with Labrat (UK) followed soon after by another appearance with Scurge (UK).
In 2005 Loathe re-entered the studio to record their second EP 'Up Close and Personal'. Four new tracks were prepared and recorded, once again under the guidance and experteese of David Vella at Temple Studios.
During this time Loathe were always busy gigging with several bands and performing in various local music festivals waiting for opportunities to play abroad and label recognition.
