BIOGRAPHY
To tell Shadowside’s history, we must go back to the year 2000, when Dani Nolden and Bill Shadow decided to go separate ways with the melodic metal band Crystal Mirror, due to the lack of ambition of the other members. With many plans in mind, they both started searching for new partners to share their ideas for a new project with serious intentions and a different style.
Then on the year 2001 Shadowside is born, a daring and bold band. After a while rehearsing, they entered the studio to record their debut material, a self-titled 6 tracks EP, which would show the band isn’t just another copy, but is original and talented, even though it’s formed by a very young lineup.
With that CD released, the band surprised everyone and got the media’s respect, being excellently reviewed and building a very strong and loyal fan base for their music full of personality and competence, having a very solid instrumental work and Dani Nolden’s unique vocals, being one of the few in the world to have a strong yet melodic female voice such as hers.
The band then starts promoting the EP and hits the road. After several gigs with amazing audience response, they were asked to be the opening act for the Finnish band Nightwish, at Credicard Hall, São Paulo, and the result couldn’t have been better: the crowd of 7000 people went crazy and reviews were great, some even considering Shadowside’s presentation better than the main act.
Even independently, they reached a stand out position in the national scene and their work broke the Brazilian frontiers and had an impact in some places in Europe and Japan, selling out all the CD copies and several gigs in only one year of existence. That performance got them co-headlining a few gigs in 2002 with Shaaman, supporting the German band Primal Fear in half their Brazilian tour and playing a special gig in 2004 with Mark Cross (former Metallium and Helloween) and Edu Falaschi (Angra) as special guests, after the departure of the former drummer A.S. Rock.
After this big initial success and an outstanding tour, the amazing drummer Fabio Buitvidas joined the band and the musicians entered the studio again to record the new material. The album, titled Theatre of Shadows, is currently being mixed and is already highly expected and promises to be a big hit that will certainly put Shadowside in the worldwide heavy metal charts.
